Mumbo-Jumbo

"I bet Spencer that I could crochet anything that he wanted into a sweater, and he said "Can you do Banjo-Kazooie?" (that's a video game for kids), and so here's Mumbo Jumbo, he is a witch doctor who lives on the island that you see behind him here. Mumbo is not the main character, but he is Spencer's favorite – Mumbo has this magic wand that looks like a shrunken head, here seen with some 3-D effect. Mumbo's weird pink skin was probably the most challenging thing to reproduce. Mumbo's teeth and some other key features on the sweater were done with glow-in-the-dark yarn, along with Spencer's name embroidered on a white area, so it only appears in the dark. There was also a set of eight finger puppets modeled after the Jinjoes, they are little colorful creatures hidden throughout the game that bestow magic powers when rescued. I think the finger puppets are long since lost, but that's because they were played with so much – it was gratifying to make something that was really enjoyed."
