'Miranda the Mermaid'

Inspiration for project: Hans Anderson's ‘The Little Mermaid’. (I tried to think of a better name, but Miranda seemed to ‘stick’.)

Painted calico was used for background and padded frame, stump work for face and torso. The padded tail is covered with ‘shell’ stitch in variegated silk thread. Shisha glass for her mirror; curlicues for plant life; long chains on strands for hair, using ‘De Havilland’ threads.
